Oskaloosa--William Penn University men's golf coach Steve Tucker has announced the signing of Lucas Troyer to a National Letter of Intent to attend the University in the fall and compete for the men's golf program.
Troyer, the son of Randy and Pat Troyer, is from Kalona where he recently graduated from Mid-Prairie HS. A two-time letterwinner on the golf team, he was a member of two Class 2A state runner-up teams in 2005 and 2006 as well as two Eastern Iowa Hawkeye Conference championship squads. Troyer, who was named co-captain for the 2006 team, was also a first-team all-EIHC selection this past spring. He was a three-sport athlete as a prep, also earning letters in football and basketball during his senior year.
Troyer excelled off the course as well, being selected for the National Honor Society. He was also a member of the Silver Cord Community Service Program in addition to receiving the Academic Achievement award and the IAHSAA's Bernie Saggau award.
"We are thrilled to have Lucas join our program," Tucker said. "He is a great individual and comes from a terrific family. Lucas also understands what it takes to be successful on the course, being a part of the strong tradition that Mid-Prairie has built in golf in the past."
