Oskaloosa--William Penn University baseball coach Mike Laird has announced the signing of Joey Grant to a National Letter of Intent to attend the University in the fall and compete for the baseball program.
Grant, a left-handed pitcher from Soquel, Calif., currently pitches at the College of San Mateo. He currently owns a 9-2 record with a 2.87 ERA, while in 2006 Grant was 9-1 with a 3.41 ERA in earning first-team all-North Coast Conference honors.
The College of San Mateo has won seven consecutive conference championship which includes this year's title.
"I'm extremely happy to have Joey Grant on board," Laird said. "He should be a major contributor to the Statesmen baseball program."
William Penn has averaged more than 40 wins the past five seasons, including claiming the last three Midwest Classic Conference championships and making an appearance in the NAIA World Series in 2004.
