Oskaloosa--Five members of the 2007 William Penn baseball team were recognized for their excellence in the classroom as they have been named 2007 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes, announced by the national office.
Ryne Christner (Sr., Sigourney, Sigourney HS), Jeremy Gulich (Sr., Erin, N.Y., Pittsburgh-Bradford), Cody Himes (Jr., Bishop, Calif., West Hills CC), Petie Montero (Sr., San Fernando, Calif., Los Angeles Harbor JC), and Felix Munoz (Sr., Santo Domingo, D.R., Indian Hills CC) all received the scholarly honor.
Christner owned a 3.650 Grade Point Average in sports administration, while Gulich owned a 3.667 GPA, also in sports administration. Himes, a kinesiology major, owned a 3.914 GPA.
Montero coveted a 3.862 GPA in physical education, while Munoz owned a 3.640 GPA in business management.
