Oskaloosa--Both Penn cross country squads will be in competition this weekend as the Statesmen look to have another individual champion at the Olivet Nazarene Invitational, Saturday.
The meet will be the last time Penn will be in competition before the Midwest Classic Conference/NAIA Region VII meet, Nov. 6. The meet will count as both the conference meet and the national-qualifying regional meet.
Last Saturday, Travis Sauer (Sr., Salina, Kan., Salina South HS) took home the individual title at the Lamb-Kohawk Invite, Saturday, in 27:16. It was Sauer's first title of his collegiate career and the first title for any Penn cross country runner since Jon Chavez won the Ocie Trimble Invite on Aug. 31, 2001.
Staci Despain (Fr., Hurricane, Utah, Hurricane HS) led the Lady Statesmen in 14th place at 25:45.
