Oskaloosa--Despite taking more shots than its opponents, the Lady Statesmen soccer team fell to Ashford 1-0 in Midwest Collegiate Conference action Wednesday.

  The Lady Statesmen (2-11-1, 0-3-1 MCC) won the shots battle, 17-12, including four each from Morgan Davis (Jr., Madera, Calif., Fresno City CC) and Jessica Marshall (Jr., Peoria, Ariz., Phoenix College) and three courtesy of Ashley Hasler (Jr., Ogden, Utah, Treasure Valley CC).

  Even with the advantage, the only goal of the contest unfortunately came off the foot of the Saints' Erika Jakobsen at the 58:35 mark. Penn failed to respond as Janna Carson (So., Idaho Falls, Idaho, Bonneville HS) tallied eight saves but was charged with the loss.

  Next: Penn travels to Forest City to play Waldorf Saturday at 1 p.m.
