Oskaloosa--William Penn University wrestling coach Eric Reed has announced the signing of Josh Swanson to a scholarship agreement to attend the University in the fall and compete for the wrestling program.
Swanson, a native of Knoxville, is the son of Curt and Joni Swanson.
A four-time state qualifier, Swanson placed three times, including finishing second at 119 pounds in 2003, third in 2004, and sixth in 2005.
"We are very excited to have an individual like Josh joining our program," Reed said. "He has great high school credentials and has coached the last couple of years so that has given him a different view of the sport, which should help him."
"Josh has a great style that I think will suit him well in college wrestling and is the type of style that I am looking for in my wrestlers."
The Statesmen owned a 3-2 dual record this past winter and placed 15th at the NAIA National Tournament. The program has posted 27 All-Americans since joining the NAIA in 2002.
