Oskaloosa--Krystle Carr (Jr., Acton, Calif., Paraclete HS) and Tyanna Helton (So., Santa Rosa, Calif., Palomar CC) continue to claim postseason honors as the NAIA's all-Region VII team was announced Wednesday.

A total of 18 players were recognized with nine each coming from the Midwest Collegiate Conference and Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Carr, the Lady Statesmen's right fielder, ended the 2008 campaign with a .381 batting average, which was good for second on the team. She had 67 hits, including 17 doubles, three triples, and six home runs. She also tallied 36 RBIs and 33 runs scored in addition to a .614 slugging percentage and a .392 on-base clip.

Helton, Penn's first baseman, concluded her sophomore year by leading Penn in numerous categories, including batting average (.456), hits (83), home runs (13), RBIs (65), slugging percentage (.769), and on-base percentage (.519). She also scored 40 runs on the year.

Helton's marks in hits, home runs, and RBIs all broke school single-season records.

The regional honor is the first for both players.

Paige Jensen of Grand View earned Region VII Player of the Year honors, while Lauren Chessum of Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) was named Region VII Pitcher of the Year.
