Oskaloosa--The Statesmen soccer team begins its quest for a national tournament berth on the road as it opens the Midwest Collegiate Conference Tournament Sunday.

Penn (8-7-2, 3-5 MCC) enters the national-qualifying tournament as the #5 seed out of nine teams. The Statesmen have drawn the #4-seeded Ashford Saints Sunday at 2 p.m. in Clinton.

The two squads met in Oskaloosa just 12 days ago (October 15) with Ashford winning 2-0.

Other first-round matchups pit #2 St. Ambrose against #7 Clarke in Davenport and #3 Mount Mercy against #6 Viterbo in Cedar Rapids. All games will begin at 2 p.m.

#1 seed Grand View will wait to see who it plays in Sunday's quarterfinals in Des Moines as #8 Waldorf and #9 Iowa Wesleyan face off Thursday in Forest City in the play-in game.

The semifinals are set for Sunday, November 9 at 2 p.m. at the site of the highest remaining seeds and the championship game will be Thursday, November 13 at 2 p.m. at the site of the highest remaining seed.
