Clinton--It was a different day, but unfortunately the same result again occurred as the Penn men's soccer team lost a 2-0 season-ending decision to Ashford in the first round of the Midwest Collegiate Conference Tournament Sunday.

The fifth-seeded Statesmen (8-8-2), who also lost to Ashford 2-0 in Clinton just 18 days earlier, were outshot by the #4 seed 15-4.

The Saints scored goals in the 29th (Kori Phillips from Rafael Machado) and 54th minutes (Soroush Kalhor from Clay Benore) to advance to play #1 seed Grand View in Des Moines next Sunday in the tournament semifinals.

Four players tallied one shot each for Penn, including James Lawrence-Forbes (So., Nottingham, England, South Nottingham College), who had the lone shot on goal for the visitors.

Tadeo Cavazos (So., Baytown, Texas, Lee HS) finished with four saves in the match.

The loss ends the collegiate careers of several seniors, including Angel Contreras (Joliet, Ill., Joliet CC), Armando Irias (Baytown, Texas, Lee HS), Matt Oppelt (St. Louis, Mo., Bishop DuBourg HS), Fernando Sanchez (Baytown, Texas, Lee HS), Tim Schultz (Foxfield, Colo., Grandview HS), and Kim Woo Sub (Yeo Ju, Korea, Ajou University).
