Des Moines--Several Statesmen grapplers represented the Penn wrestling program at the Grand View Open Saturday.
Taylor Louie (So., West Covina, Calif., West Covina HS) had by far the best performance as he placed fifth at 125 pounds with a 3-2 record. Louie lost his first match of the day, but moved through the consolation bracket, including picking up two wins via injury default.
Fellow 125-pounder Sean Alfreno (So., North Las Vegas, Nev., Cheyenne HS) and 149-pounder Corey Johnson (Jr., West Park, Fla., Miramar HS) also both won one match apiece at the Open.
Next: Penn travels to Dubuque Saturday to compete in the Loras Open. Action begins at 9 a.m. It is the team's last tournament before the Central National Qualifying Tournament on February 21.
