Dena Hugen shot an 81 with 26 Stableford points to tie for second in each standing
Marion--Lady Statesmen golfer Dena Hugen (So., Oskaloosa, Oskaloosa HS) has not missed a beat since the fall as she placed high at the Mount Mercy Stableford Classic Thursday.

Penn had just two individuals in competition at the par-72 Hunters Ridge Golf Course as Waldorf Purple won both the traditional team title with a score of 348 and the Stableford standings with 90 points.

In the Stableford scoring system, a player gets a certain number of points for their score on each hole, such as one point for bogey, two points for par, three points for birdie, four points for eagle, etc. Contrary to regular golf scoring, the higher the number scored on a hole, the better.

Hugen tied for second in both standings with a score of 83 and 26 Stableford points, while Denita Kitts of Waldorf won both by carding an 81 with 29 Stableford points. Hugen ended the fall tied for tenth after two rounds at the Midwest Collegiate Conference Championships.

Janna Carson (Jr., Idaho Falls, Idaho, Bonneville HS) also competed for Penn and placed 27th with a 121.
