Dena Hugen shot an 83 to finish second at the Mount Mercy Stableford Classic
Oskaloosa--Dena Hugen (So., Oskaloosa, Oskaloosa HS) continues to shoot well for the Penn women's golf team and her score last week earned her the Midwest Collegiate Conference Women's Golf Player of the Week honor, announced by the league office Tuesday.
Hugen, a first-time honoree, carded a score of 83 to tie for second at the Mount Mercy Stableford Classic last Thursday. The sophomore also tied for second in the Stableford scoring standings with 26 points.
Through ten rounds of golf in 2008-2009, Hugen owns a stroke average of 86.9, including a school-record round of 76 at the St. Ambrose Classic on September 20.
She is currently tenth entering the final two rounds of the MCC Championships this weekend. The sophomore, who shot a 90-85--175, is 12 strokes off the lead.
The award is the first for the program this year.
