Oskaloosa--As part of the NAIA's Champions of Character initiative, members of the William Penn University wrestling team volunteered their time to help the local youth wrestling club as well as at a pair of youth wrestling tournaments.
A group of grapplers assisted at tournaments held on December 14 and March 14. Team members made the bracket sheets, worked at the score tables, and helped with the general organization of the tournament.
"It was a good opportunity for us to give back to the Oskaloosa community and the wrestling programs," Statesmen Head Coach
Eric Reed said.
"It was cool to see the excitement on the faces of the younger kids," Reed added. "It brought back good memories for the guys and helped them to remember why they got into the sport."
Wrestlers also assisted at practices for the Kaos youth wrestling club in Oskaloosa. Two different wrestlers helped out at every Tuesday and Thursday practice from November through February.
