Oskaloosa--Gavin Miles (Fr., East London, South Africa, Selborne College) concluded a strong freshman campaign by being voted one of the top linksters in the league as the 2009 all-Midwest Collegiate Conference men's golf teams were announced Monday.

Miles was one of seven players named to the honorable-mention squad, while five players garnered first-team recognition.

Dusty Drenth of St. Ambrose was named MCC Player of the Year, while Ted Peetz of Iowa Wesleyan was tabbed as MCC Coach of the Year.

Miles owned a 76.2 stroke average over 18 18-hole rounds of competition between last fall and this spring.

The freshman, who had two top-ten finishes, scored under 80 in 13 of the 18 rounds in which he played. He recorded a season-low score of 69 twice, tying for the low round in each tournament.
