Oskaloosa--Cory Sheeley (Jr., Oskaloosa, Oskaloosa HS) was honored for his excellence in the classroom as he was named a 2009 Daktronics-NAIA Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete.
Sheeley owns a 3.58 Grade Point Average in computer science.
The NAIA announced there were 95 men's golf scholar-athletes, including a division high of five from Johnson & Wales (Fla.).
To be eligible for the award, athletes must be of at least junior academic standing, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full academic year.
