Oskaloosa--Four Statesmen football players have received the first recognition of the 2009 season as they were tabbed on a preseason small college football all-Iowa team.

Curtis Goddard, Sports Editor of the Oelwein Daily Register, produced his own version of the all-Iowa team, consisting of players from only NCAA Division II, III, and NAIA. He included a first and second team and an honorable-mention squad.

Wide receiver Skyler Crouch (Sr., Payson, Utah, Payson HS), defensive end Kris Austin (Sr., Oxford, Miss., Lafayette HS), and defensive back Terrance Flukers (Jr., Miami, Fla., Edgewater HS) were all named to the second team, while Trevon Greene (Sr., Gaffney, S.C., Gaffney HS) was an honorable-mention pick.

All four players are returning to the turf after garnering second-team all-Midwest League laurels in 2008.

Last season, Crouch caught 19 passes for 644 yards and five touchdowns. He led the NAIA in yards per catch in 2008.

Austin tallied 38 tackles and tied for the team lead with two sacks, while Flukers also had 38 stops in addition to four interceptions and a team-best 11 pass breakups.

Greene likely had the biggest impact on the defensive end by leading the squad with 93 tackles.
