Oskaloosa--William Penn University women's basketball coach Brian Spielbauer has announced the signings of three players to letters of intent to attend the University in the fall and compete for the women's basketball program.

Samantha Darley is the daughter of Greg and Jessica Darley. A combination guard, she comes to Penn from Mesa CC in Arizona.

"Sam is a very good player and comes from an outstanding junior college program that finished third in the national ratings," Spielbauer said. "She is a team player and is well-skilled. We look for her to have a major impact on our program."

Caitlyn Hernandez is the daughter of Belinda Dodson and granddaughter of Peggy Alhalabi. A 6-2 center, she comes to Penn from Citrus CC in California.

"Caitlyn will provide much needed size to our program and is very much team-oriented," Spielbauer said. "She is an excellent screener and rebounder. We are excited to have her."

Rachel Butler is the daughter of Chris and Sue Butler. A 5-10 forward, she comes to Penn from Cerritos CC in California.

"Rachel was an all-conference player at Cerritos CC and is a very good addition," Spielbauer said. "She is strong and athletic and has very good range. We are excited to add her to our program."

Penn finished the 2008-2009 season at 10-22.
