Penn finished third out of 13 teams at the par-71 Thunder Hills Country Club. The Statesmen shot 300 Sunday to sit in second place after Day One, but faltered a bit the second day with a 317 to post a final score of 617.
St. Ambrose ran away with the crown with a final score of 569 (282-287), one over par for the tournament. Central White was second at 614 (309-305).
Dusty Drenth of St. Ambrose claimed medalist honors by firing a score of eight-under 134 (69-65).
St. Ambrose and Drenth both broke tournament records, while Drenth also tied the course record.
Stobart had two solid rounds of 72 and 73 to place fourth overall with a final tally of three-over 145.
Penn managed two players in the top 20 as
Adriaan de Villiers (Fr., Akasia, South Africa, Akasia HS) tied for 19th at 155 (77-78), while
Cam Armitage (Jr., Delta, B.C., North Delta HS) was third for the team in a tie for 27th at 158 (75-83).
Brent Lurie (Fr., Johannesburg, South Africa, Beaulieu College) tied for 32nd at 159 (76-83) and
Mattias Carlsson (Fr., Uddevalla, Sweden, Agnebergskolan HS) tied for 47th at 168 (83-85).
