La Crosse, Wis.--An evenly-played second half did not finish that way as the Penn women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Viterbo in Midwest Collegiate Conference action Saturday.

The Lady Statesmen (4-5-1, 1-2-1 MCC), who were outshot just 11-8 overall (6-6 in the second half), failed to put a shot attempt past the V-Hawk goalkeeper all afternoon.

The teams played 66 scoreless minutes on the pitch before Viterbo (5-8, 2-2 MCC) finally broke up the tie when Lauren Neet put a shot past Penn's starting goalkeeper Kristen Dolen (Sr., Independence, Mo., William Chrisman HS) at the 66:19 mark.

Dolen was replaced in goal by Katie Burnett (Jr., Mesa, Ariz., Desert Ridge HS) soon thereafter, but the change unfortunately did not favor the Lady Statesmen. The offense continued to struggle, while the V-Hawks put away an insurance goal in the 89th minute to close the deal.

Dolen had one save, while Burnett added two for Penn.

Offensively, Lauren Terrell (So., Chandler, Ariz., Chandler HS) paced her team with three shots and Stephanie Deck (Fr., Plain City, Utah, Fremont HS) added two shots.

Next: Penn returns to Oskaloosa Tuesday to face Avila (Mo.) in non-conference action at 3 p.m.
