Geoff Dammann fired a three-over-par 75 to tie for first
Oskaloosa--On a day where scores in the 70s would have sold at a premium, Geoff Dammann (Fr., Wyoming, Midland HS) ended his first fall season of collegiate golf on a strong note as the Penn men's linksters hosted the Statesmen Fall Classic Tuesday.

Penn finished fourth out of seven teams at the par-72 Oskaloosa Golf Course with a final score of 326.

Grand View Red claimed the tourney title at 308, while AIB was second at 313.

Dammann, who was actually playing for Penn's second team, the Gold squad, tied Nick Juskewycz of Iowa Wesleyan (playing as an individual) and Mark Kirschenman of Grand View Red by carding a three-over 75.

Sebastian Stobart (So., Harare, Zimbabwe, St. Georges College) paced the varsity squad as he tied for sixth (44 players) with a 77.

Cam Armitage (Jr., Delta, B.C., North Delta HS) was next in a tie for 16th with an 82, while Brent Lurie (Fr., Johannesburg, South Africa, Beaulieu College) tied for 20th with an 83.

Mattias Carlsson (Fr., Uddevalla, Sweden, Agnebergskolan HS) tied for 22nd with an 84 and Adriaan de Villiers (Fr., Akasia, South Africa, Akasia HS) tied for 33rd with an 86.

Dammann led the Gold team to a tie for fifth place with a combined tally of 330.

Ian Minder (So., Muscatine, Muscatine HS) and Cory Sheeley (Jr., Oskaloosa, Oskaloosa HS) were next behind Dammann in a tie for 22nd with scores of 84, while Tony Keller (Fr., Union, BCLUW HS) tied for 35th with an 87 and Will Poterek (Jr., Lee, Ill., Indian Creek HS) tied for 40th with a 90.

Three players competed as individuals in Penn's final fall event. Austin Stevens (Sr., Oskaloosa, Oskaloosa HS) tied for 20th with an 83, while Lucas Troyer (Sr., Kalona, Mid-Prairie HS) tied for 38th with an 88 and Zach Wesselmann (So., Van Meter, Van Meter HS) tied for 40th with a 90.

The team's spring season, which includes the national-qualifying conference tournament, is scheduled to begin in early March.
