Less than 24 hours after crushing Faith Baptist Bible 10-1, the Lady Statesmen (5-8-1, 1-4-1 MCC) took on a much stronger foe and the offensive numbers were not the same.
Penn was limited to seven total shots, including five in the first half, but Terrell made the most of her chances as she buried a shot to give her squad a 1-0 advantage in the tenth minute of regulation.
It was her seventh goal of the fall, tying for the team lead. The assist was awarded to
Melisa Wink (So., Brookfield, Ill., Lyons Township HS), her team-best fourth of the year.
Unfortunately, Ashford (10-4, 3-3 MCC) made several adjustments at the break and dominated the second half, scoring the equalizing goal in the 69th minute.
With only two minutes left and overtime almost a foregone conclusion, the Saints put another shot in the back of the net to crush Penn's hopes.
Contrary to Tuesday night's game,
Katie Burnett (Jr., Mesa, Ariz., Desert Ridge HS) found herself very busy in goal, making nine saves in the loss.
