Oskaloosa--The Penn women's soccer squad has a tough road placed ahead of itself as the Midwest Collegiate Conference Tournament begins Saturday.
The Lady Statesmen (7-9-1, 2-5-1 MCC) enter the national-qualifying tournament as the #7 seed out of nine teams. Penn will open the tourney against #2 seed Clarke Saturday at 2 p.m. in Dubuque.
The two squads met in Dubuque on September 26 with the Crusaders knocking off the Lady Statesmen 5-1.
Saturday's other first-round matchups pit #3 Grand View against #6 Waldorf in Des Moines and #4 Viterbo (Wis.) against #5 Ashford in La Crosse, Wis. All games will begin at 2 p.m.
#1 seed St. Ambrose will wait to see who it plays in Saturday's other quarterfinal game in Davenport as #8 Mount Mercy and #9 Iowa Wesleyan face off Wednesday in Cedar Rapids in the play-in game.
The semifinals are set for Saturday, November 7 at 2 p.m. at the site of the highest remaining seeds and the championship game will be Wednesday, November 11 at 2 p.m. at the site of the highest remaining seed.
