Oskaloosa--Although he already owns two first-team all-league awards, Statesmen soccer star forward
Nik Rule (Sr., Idaho Falls, Idaho, Skyline HS) finally collected his first-ever Midwest Collegiate Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Rule helped Penn (7-8-1, 3-5 MCC) to wins over Culver-Stockton (Mo.) Wednesday 3-0 and Mount Mercy Saturday 2-0. He has been an integral part of the recent hot streak by the Statesmen as they have won five of their last six games with the only loss coming to conference champion Ashford.
The senior scored the first two goals against Culver-Stockton and then put home the only two goals of the game against Mount Mercy.
Rule, who has posted three multiple-goal performances this fall, now has a team-best 14 goals and is also tied for the squad lead with six assists for a total of 34 statistical points.
For his career, Rule has recorded 35 goals and is just seven shy of Joe Druppel's (2001-04) school record of 42. His 14 goals this year have also eclipsed his person season best of 13 goals in 2006 and is within two of Druppel's program mark of 16 in 2004.
It is the second MCC weekly honor for Penn this season.
