Although no Penn grappler placed in the top four, five individuals recorded at least two wins.
Clark Morgan (Jr., Buena Park, Calif., Sunny Hills HS) topped the team by going 3-2 with a fall at 133 pounds. He was just two wins away from a top-four finish in a bracket of 23 competitors.
Matt Chustz (Sr., Manassas Park, Va., Manassas Park HS) was only one win shy of the same result by going 2-2 at 125 pounds.
Dustin Howa (Sr., Price, Utah, Carbon HS) entered the tournament as the top seed at 141 pounds and was well on his way to a strong finish, but suffered a leg injury and medically-defaulted to finish 2-0 overall (one major decision).
Karl Spain (Jr., Lafayette, La., Comeaux HS) matched Chustz by splitting his four matches and reaching the consolation semifinals at 197 pounds, while
Ryan Groom (So., Oskaloosa, Oskaloosa HS) was 2-2 as well with a fall at heavyweight.
