Nik Rule tied for sixth in league play in goals, assists, and points
Oskaloosa--Nik Rule (Sr., Idaho Falls, Idaho, Skyline HS) was honored for another banner year as the all-Midwest Collegiate Conference men's soccer teams were announced Monday.

Rule was named to the first team for the third time in as many years. A total of 30 athletes were recognized by the league, including 14 first-teamers and 16 honorable mentions.

After playing soccer in 2005 and 2006, the senior (junior eligibility), who is planning to return for a final season in 2010, played golf for two years, but then returned to the pitch this fall with tremendous results.

He led the Statesmen (7-9-1, 3-5 MCC) with 14 goals and tied for the team lead with six assists for 34 total points. The senior had five game-winning goals and posted three multiple-goal performances, including his second career hat trick with three scores against York (Neb.) on August 30.

Within league competition, Rule tied for sixth in goals (5), assists (2), and points (12). He also tied for the conference lead with two game-winners.

Chris Scott of Grand View was named MCC Player of the Year, while Geraldo Garza of Ashford garnered Newcomer of the Year laurels. Richard Markham of Ashford claimed the Coach of the Year award for leading the Saints to their first-ever regular season crown and an undefeated regular season.
