Stanton collected first-team honors for the third time in her career, while Brown was an honorable-mention pick one season removed from first-team recognition. Fourteen players were named to the first team, while nine individuals gathered honorable mentions.
Stanton, who was named Hitter of the Week three times this fall and Player of the Week twice, surpassed the 1,000-kill mark this year and will enter her final season with 1,418 kills, just 102 kills shy of Cohri Haas' school record of 1,520.
The junior tallied 450 kills (2.92 per game) with a .256 attack percentage. She also managed 17 assists, 37 aces, 546 digs, and 55 blocks (13 solos, 42 assists). Stanton tied a career high with 24 kills against Grinnell on September 26.
Brown, who was named Hitter of the Week and Player of the Week once each, finished 2009 with 408 kills (2.65 per game) with a team-best .342 attack percentage. She also tallied 11 assists, ten aces, 93 digs, and 152 (52 solos, 100 assists). The senior posted a season-high 17 kills against Concordia (Wis.) on September 19.
Devon Jensen of Grand View was named Player and Newcomer of the Year, while Viking Head Coach Tina Carter garnered Coach of the Year honors from her peers. Lauren Aderman of St. Ambrose was selected as Setter of the Year and Heather Harelstad of Viterbo took home Libero of the Year accolades.
