Penn (6-4) shot just 33.8% from the field (23-68), while the Defenders hit just over half of their attempts at 50.9% (27-53).
The game was tight throughout with neither team holding a lead larger than seven points.
The squads walked to their respective locker rooms tied at 29-29, but Dordt (3-5) came out a bit stronger after the break to take the lead.

The score was tied three more times in the ensuing minutes, but the Defenders eventually pulled away. Penn did get within three points in the final minute (69-66), however, but its opponent made three of its final four free throws and Penn missed its last two shots to conclude the contest.Janice Adams

The Lady Statesmen were able to stay close by committing just 15 turnovers compared to 22 mistakes by Dordt and turned that into a 20-10 advantage for them in points off turnovers.
