Oskaloosa--Josh Swanson (Jr., Knoxville, Knoxville HS) is heading the Penn wrestling team as the second NAIA wrestling rating of the year was released earlier this week.

As a team, Penn is tied with Baker (Kan.) for 25th with two points. Notre Dame (Ohio) is once again leading the nation with 101 points. California Baptist is second with 85.5 points, while Missouri Valley is third with 84 points and Great Falls (Mont.) is fourth with 82.5 points. Southern Oregon rounds out the top five with 78 points.

Fellow Iowa institutions Grand View is seventh with 63 points, while Northwestern is 18th with 19 points and Morningside is 19th with 15 points.

Swanson is the top-rated Statesmen grappler, holding tenth place at 157 pounds.

Penn is sixth as a team in the Central Qualifying Group poll with 56 points. Missouri Valley is again first with 197 points, while Grand View is second with 153.5 points and Oklahoma City is third with 139.5 points.

Swanson and 141-pounder Dustin Howa (Sr., Price, Utah, Carbon HS) are each third at their respective weights.

David Crow (Jr., Baumholder, Germany, Baumholder HS), at 133 pounds, and Karl Spain (Jr., Lafayette, La., Comeaux HS), at 197 pounds, are both fifth, while 184-pounder Jesse Buchanan (Gilman, East Marshall HS) is sixth to round out Penn's rated wrestlers.

Penn is off until after the holiday break.
