Oskaloosa--Josh Swanson (Jr., Knoxville, Knoxville HS) continues to top the Penn wrestling team as the third NAIA wrestling rating was released in late December.

As a team, Penn is 25th with 2.5 points. Notre Dame (Ohio) is once again leading the nation with 108 points. California Baptist is second with 91 points, while Great Falls (Mont.) is third with 87 points, and McKendree (Ill.) is fourth with 80.5 points. Southern Oregon rounds out the top five with 75 points.

Fellow Iowa institutions Grand View is sixth with 72.5 points, while Northwestern is 15th with 24.5 points and Morningside is 18th with 17 points.

Swanson is the only rated Statesmen grappler, holding ninth place in the NAIA at 157 pounds.

Penn is sixth as a team in the Central Qualifying Group poll with 55 points. Missouri Valley is again first with 193 points, while Grand View is second with 171 points and Oklahoma City is third with 137 points.

Swanson again leads the Statesmen in the Qualifying Group by being ranked third. Dustin Howa (Sr., Price, Utah, Carbon HS) is next in fourth place at 141 pounds.

David Crow (Jr., Baumholder, Germany, Baumholder HS), at 133 pounds, and Karl Spain (Jr., Lafayette, La., Comeaux HS), at 197 pounds, are both fifth, while 184-pounder Jesse Buchanan (Fr., Gilman, East Marshall HS) is sixth to round out Penn's rated wrestlers.

Penn returns to Oskaloosa for the first time this year for the First Annual William Penn Open Saturday. Action begins at 9 a.m. in the Penn Activity Center.
