Oskaloosa--As part of the NAIA's Champions of Character initiative, several members of the William Penn football team volunteered their time by ringing bells for the Salvation Army in November and December.
Team members rang bells from November 30 through December 3 in front of the Oskaloosa Hy-Vee store. The squad raised a total of $261.25 in donations.
All of the money raised from the campaign will remain in Mahaska County to those who have suffered tragedies, as well as children and families in need.
"We are very pleased to be able to help with this great cause," Statesmen Head Coach
Todd Hafner said. "It is the least we can do to help support the Oskaloosa community, especially the way they support us."
