Oskaloosa--Another understaffed night spelled doom for the Penn wrestling team as #10 NCAA Division III Cornell defeated the Statesmen 34-9 in dual meet action Tuesday.

In a dual that was rescheduled from December 9, Matt Chustz (Sr., Manassas Park, Va., Manassas Park HS) gave Penn an early lead as he held off Timothy Hood for a 5-4 win at 125 pounds.

The Statesmen (0-3) found little other success in Penn Gymnasium Tuesday, losing their next seven matches (no match at 141 pounds) to the Rams (10-9) to trail 34-3 entering the final match.

Heavyweight Ryan Groom (So., Oskaloosa, Oskaloosa HS) gave the hometown crowd something to smile about on their drive home, though, as he pinned Wyatt Bauman in a time of 4:18 to close the meet.

Next: Penn travels to Sioux City Friday for a dual meet against #18 Morningside at 6 p.m.
