Penn averaged 165.3 pins in the tourney, with a high game of 217 pins
West Chicago, Ill.--The Penn women's bowling squad shook off the rust from a lengthy holiday break to place well at the Eagles NAIA Baker Challenge last Saturday and Sunday.

The Lady Statesmen finished 11th out of 16 teams with 6,611 pins in a tournament that solely consisted of Baker games, 40 total.

McKendree A (Ill.) finished first in the standings with 7,413 pins, while McKendree B (Ill.) won the eight-team bracket tournament, defeating Ball State (Ind.) 3-2 in the finals.

Eight players comprised the Lady Statesmen team, including Breanne Underwood (Jr., Treynor, Treynor HS), Sarah Randles (Fr., Las Vegas, Nev., Shadow Ridge HS), Jennifer Smith (Fr., Oskaloosa, Derby Kan. HS), Amanda Edenholm (Fr., Marysville, Wash., Marysville-Pilchuck HS), Samantha Powell (Fr., Herriman, Utah, Bingham HS), Leah Early (Fr., Cedar Rapids, Jefferson HS),
Britney Cherry (Fr., South Beloit, Ill., Plainfield HS), and Anna Groat (Fr., Council Bluffs, Jefferson HS).

Penn had a high four-game set score of 753, while its highest single-game tally was 217.

Next: Penn is off one week before traveling to St. Charles, Mo. for the Lions Classic hosted by Lindenwood on January 30-31.
