Mount Vernon--As the rest of the team had a week off to rest up for the indoor conference meet, a very small contingent represented the Penn track and field teams at the Cornell Hilltop Invitational Saturday.
Jason Morad (Jr., Detroit, Mich., Oakland CC) placed 19th in the one-mile run in a time of 4:51.95, while Heath Nichols (Sr., State Center, West Marshall HS) was second in his flight in the shot put, but could not advance to the finals with a throw of 39-2.25.
On the women's side, Melisa Wink (So., Brookfield, Ill., Lyons Township HS) was 26th in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:09.25, while Jessica Bixler (Jr., Oskaloosa, Oskaloosa HS) was 27th in the one-mile run in a time of 6:39.04.
Katie Burnett (Jr., Mesa, Ariz., Arizona) competed in two events, tying for eighth place with a high jump mark of 4-9.5 and finishing seventh in her flight with a shot put toss of 31-2.75 (did not qualify for the finals).
Next: Penn travels to Sterling, Ill., to compete in the Midwest Collegiate Conference Indoor Championships next Saturday.
