Oskaloosa--Royce Clay (Sr., Miami, Fla., Booker T. Washington HS) and Gabriel Green (Fr., Anniston, Ala., Anniston HS) each had tremendous performances at the league's indoor championships and they were rewarded for their efforts by earning Midwest Collegiate Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors.

Clay, who was honored for the first time this season and the third time in his career, won the long jump event and was runner-up in the triple jump. He was named MCC Male Indoor Field Athlete of the Year.

Already a national qualifier in the triple jump, the senior posted an ‘A' qualifying mark of 23-0.75 in the long jump, nearly one foot longer than his previous best this campaign. The jump also broke the meet record. His triple jump distance was 46-0.75, helping him improve on his previous season best of 45-9.

Green, a first-time honoree by the conference, was by far the fastest man on the track last Saturday as he was victorious in the 55, 200, and 400-meter dash events. The freshman garnered MCC Male Indoor Track Athlete of the Year laurels.

Green won the 55-meter dash in a time of 6.51 seconds, good enough to eclipse the ‘B' standard. He also won the 200-meter dash, an event in which he has already qualified, in a time of 22.46 seconds. The freshman completed the sweep with a win in the 400-meter dash in a time of 50.33 seconds. All three times broke previous meet records.

The awards are the first two for the program this year.
