Kris Miller (Sr., Belleville, Mich., Belleville HS) was named to the league's ten-player first team, while
Joel Stout (Sr., New Sharon, North Mahaska HS) was one of 12 players that garnered honorable mentions.
Miller, also a first-team pick a year ago, collected the third award of his career (honorable mention in 2008). The team's leading scorer, he paced Penn to a 22-11 campaign (9-7 MCC) and an appearance in the MCC Tournament Finals for the third time in his career (sixth time in seven years for the program).
Miller becomes just the fourth player in school history to earned three all-conference awards, joining Eric Otto (1969, 1970, 1971), Juahmal Sturgeon (1999, 2000, 2001), and Jacob Spielbauer (2005, 2006, 2007).
The senior was second in the conference with 19.5 points per game, trailing only Viterbo's Scott Buschman's 20.4 points. Buschman was named MCC Player of the Year.
Miller also ranked in the top ten in the MCC in several other categories, including assists per game (4.03, 3rd), steals per game (1.82, 3rd), three-pointers made per game (2.67, 3rd), blocked shots per game (1.03, 4th), assist/turnover ratio (+1.14, 8th), three-point percentage (.370, 9th), and defensive rebounds per game (3.85, 10th).
For the year, Miller led Penn in many categories, including points (645), all three-point areas (88-238, .370), assists (133), blocks (34), and steals (60). He also averaged 4.8 rebounds per contest. The senior was named MCC Player of the Week twice.
Miller departs the program as one of the most prolific Statesmen cagers ever. He is first in steals (227), second in points (1,722), second in three-pointers made (203), third in field goals made (630), third in assists (390), fourth in blocks (82), and seventh in free throws made (259).
Stout, who earns his first all-MCC laurel, was a tremendous complement to Miller during the campaign, averaging 15.1 points per contest, good for ninth in the league. He also ranked fifth in the MCC in free throw percentage (.815) and tenth in three-pointers made per game (1.79).
The senior ended his year by also averaging 4.1 rebounds per contest in addition to 59 assists, eight blocks, and 35 steals.
Stout joins Miller in the 1,000-Point Club with 1,061 points, good for 15th all-time. He also concludes his career ranked fifth in three-pointers made (145) and seventh in free-throw percentage (.764) and steals (103).
Justin Tiner of St. Ambrose garnered MCC Newcomer of the Year honors, while Mount Mercy's Paul Gavin collected the MCC Coach of the Year award from his peers.
