Tucson, Ariz.--The Penn softball squad drubbed two more opponents Wednesday as it remained perfect during its spring break trip in Arizona.

The Lady Statesmen (6-0) defeated Alvernia (Pa.) 8-0 (5 innings) to begin the day and then pounded Neumann (Pa.) 14-3 (5 innings) in the day's second contest.

William Penn 8, Alvernia (Pa.) 0

Tyanna Helton (Sr., Santa Rosa, Calif., Palomar CC) opened the day's scoring in the first inning with a two-run double, bringing home Ashley Stream (So., Chariton, Chariton HS) and Brittany Labbe (Fr., Northridge, Calif., Chaminade HS).

Penn tacked on two more in the fourth frame when Hailey Dreyer (Sr., Twin Lakes, Wis., Dubuque) scored on an error and Stream crossed home plate again, this time on a single by Krystina Lorah (Jr., Moreno Valley, Calif., Moreno Valley HS). Stream scored three times in the win, while Dreyer rounded the bases twice.

The Lady Statesmen closed out the contest in the following inning, highlighted by Helton's two-run single and another RBI single by Lorah.

Helton and Lorah were both 2-for-4 on the day, combining for six RBIs. The offensive outburst was just less than the team's first four games as it was the first time Penn did not reach double digits in hits, tallying nine in the win.

Monica Villarreal (Fr., Oceanside, Calif., Carlsbad HS) took care of the defensive end, limiting Alvernia to just one hit. The freshman (2-0) struck out nine against only one walk.

William Penn 14, Neumann (Pa.) 3

The team's hitting returned to ‘normal' in the nightcap as Penn recorded 12 hits, while holding Neumann to just four base knocks. Through six games, the Lady Statesmen are doubling up their opponents in batting average, .394-.197.

Penn rolled out to a huge lead with six runs in the first, five in the second, and three more in the third. Neumann answered with three runs, which incredibly stands as the most the Lady Statesmen have allowed in a single game yet this season.

Mork, Khyia Lewis (So., Ottumwa, Ottumwa HS), Molly Miller (Fr., Kalona, Mid-Prairie HS) provided the power in the victory as nine different Penn players had at least one hit.

Lewis was 2-for-2 (two doubles) with four RBIs, while Miller finished 2-for-3 (double, triple) with three RBIs and two runs scored. Mork nearly matched Miller's numbers exactly (2-for-3, 3 RBI, 2 R), but replaced the double with a single.

Labbe, Helton, and Kara Atkins (So., Burlington, Burlington HS) all scored twice apiece.

Outside of a tough fourth inning (three runs on three hits), Hannah Lugar (So., Kalona, Mid-Prairie HS) was electric to move to 3-0 on the season. The sophomore allowed three runs (all earned) on four hits. She struck out six with one walk.

Next: After having Thursday off to enjoy the weather, Penn continues its spring break trip Friday by facing Siena Heights (Mich.) at 11 a.m. and Great Falls (Mont.) at 1:30 p.m. (times are CST).
