Oklahoma City, Okla.--Matt Chustz (Sr., Manassas Park, Va., Manassas Park HS) won two more matches Saturday to finish his collegiate career on a high note at the 53rd Annual NAIA Wrestling National Championships.

The 125-pounder became the 36th wrestling All-American in school history by placing third with a 7-1 record. After winning his first match, the senior lost his next duel before rattling off six straight wins to become the consolation bracket champion. He is the program's first All-American since the trio of Jordan Wall, Shamar Haynes, and Edgar Haynes all accomplished the feat in 2008.

Chustz knocked off Tyler Savage of Notre Dame (Ohio) 8-3 in the consolation semifinals before defeating Angel Olea of Dickinson State (N.D.) 12-10 in the third-place match.

En route to his bronze, Chustz defeated three wrestlers ranked ahead of him in the NAIA's final rating in addition to another individual who was also ranked in the top 12. The senior, who ends his campaign at 36-11, was #9 in the last poll of the year, but knocked off the #2, #5, #7, and #11-ranked wrestlers at nationals.

Chustz was the only Statesmen grappler still in contention Saturday as the team's other four national qualifiers all picked up their second loss prior to the All-American round.

Fellow 125-pounder Taylor Louie (Jr., West Covina, Calif., West Covina HS) and heavyweight Ryan Groom (So., Oskaloosa, Oskaloosa HS) concluded nationals with 2-2 records, while 141-pounder Dustin Howa (Sr., Price, Utah, Carbon HS) and Chris Diaz (So., Montrose, Colo., Olathe HS)
were both 1-2 at the meet.

As a team, Penn finished 21st with 26 points, while Notre Dame led from start to finish to claim its first national team crown with 179.5 points. The Falcons had three individual champions and ten total All-Americans.

Southern Oregon was second with 120 points and two champs, while Great Falls (Mont.) was third with 118.5 points. Missouri Valley was fourth with 110.5 points (one champ) and McKendree (Ill.) was fifth with 109 points (one champ).
