Eric Krause struck out nine in eight scoreless innings
Oskaloosa--For the second week in a row, Eric Krause (Jr., San Diego, Calif., Southwestern CC) was dominant on the mound and for his efforts he was again named Midwest Collegiate Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week announced by the league office Monday.
Krause picked up his second-straight league award as the Statesmen (22-13, 12-5 MCC) went 4-2 last week.
The junior finished the week 1-0 and did not allow a run in eight innings of work (two appearances). On Saturday against Iowa Wesleyan, he gave up six hits and struck out nine batters in his first shutout in the navy blue and gold. He also came on for one inning of relief against Missouri Valley Wednesday.
For the year, the staff ace is 7-1 with a 2.45 ERA in 55 innings pitched. He has 66 strikeouts against only five walks and opponents are hitting just .227 against him.
The weekly award is the second for the baseball program in 2010.
