Oskaloosa--William Penn University wrestling coach
Eric Reed has announced the signing of Brett Sams to a National Letter of Intent to attend the University in the fall and compete for the wrestling program.
Sams, the son of Trampas and Peggy Sams, is a native of Oskaloosa and currently attends Oskaloosa HS where he will graduate this spring.
A four-time state tournament qualifier with a 133-25 prep record, Sams placed fourth in state in 2009 and fifth in 2010.
Sams ranked high on numerous school lists, including being in the top ten in career winning percentage. He also departs as second in season pins (29), fifth in career pins, and fifth in career wins.
He is just the second person in school history to win a conference crown four times and earned team awards for Most Valuable Wrestler, Hardest Worker, and Guts Club (four times). The Guts Club is for individuals who do not miss practice all season.
Sams also serves as a Peer Helper at Oskaloosa HS.
