Oskaloosa--Khyia Lewis (So., Ottumwa, Ottumwa HS) hit the ball all over the park last week and for her efforts she was named Midwest Collegiate Conference Softball Player of the Week announced by the league office earlier this week.
Lewis hit .692 as the Lady Statesmen (40-11, 16-6 MCC) owned a 3-1 record.
The sophomore (9-13) had two doubles, one home run, four RBIs, and three runs scored. She owned a 1.077 slugging percentage and a .714 on-base clip.
Lewis was nearly perfect in last Tuesday's doubleheader against Clarke, finishing 6-for-7 (.857) with one home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
For the year, she is hitting .415 (59-142) with 16 doubles, one triple, three home runs, 30 RBIs, and 31 runs scored. The sophomore is currently riding a nine-game winning streak.
The weekly award is the third for the softball program in 2010.
