The Lady Statesmen softball team led the athletics department with a runner-up finish
Oskaloosa--A solid spring season helped William Penn finish sixth in the 2009-2010 Midwest Collegiate Conference's Commissioners Cup Standings.

All of the league's 15 sponsored sports champions have been determined and points have been awarded for finishes in the final regular season standings or finishes in the league's championship event. Bonus points were also awarded to conference tournament winners.

The MCC sponsors men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball, men's cross country, women's cross country, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's indoor track & field, women's indoor track & field, baseball, softball, men's golf, women's golf, men's outdoor track & field, and women's outdoor track & field.

Penn earned 560 points to place sixth out of nine teams, highlighted by four top-half finishes in the spring. The softball (2nd), men's outdoor track and field (3rd), men's golf (4th), and baseball (4th) squads all placed in the top half of the MCC.

Grand View dethroned St. Ambrose with 1,045 points, including crowns in men's basketball, men's indoor track and field, women's indoor track and field, baseball, and men's golf.

St. Ambrose was a close second with 965 points and six titles (men's cross country, women's soccer, volleyball, women's golf, men's outdoor track and field, and women's outdoor track and field).

Mount Mercy was third with 745 points (titles in women's cross country and softball), while Viterbo (635 points) and Ashford (615 points, title in men's soccer) also finished ahead of Penn.

Clarke (480 points), Iowa Wesleyan (470 points, title in women's basketball), and Waldorf (215 points) rounded out the standings.
