Penn finished seventh out of eight teams with 152 points, while Morningside held off Drake for the team crown, 49-55. Neil Grundman of Graceland took the 8K title with a time of 25:58, just shy of one minute better than the meet runner-up.
Schuler placed sixth overall (out of 75 runners) with a time of 27:28, only three seconds behind Jim Vonnahme of Grand View for the top time by a runner from the Midwest Collegiate Conference.
Nicholas Reynolds (Jr., Riverton, Utah, Iowa Western CC) was next in 22nd place with a time of 28:38, while
Jordan Letzring (Sr., Alta, Alta HS) came in 34th with a time of 29:37.
Cameron Pittman (Fr., Carl Junction, Mo., Carl Junction HS), in 64th (33:03), and
Donovan DeVore (Jr., Wilton, Wilton HS), in 70th (34:17), were also in action Friday.
Next: Penn travels to Clinton next Saturday to compete in the Ashford Invitational at 11 a.m. The course in Clinton will also be the host course for this year's MCC Championships on November 6.
