Oskaloosa--Tim Eyer (Sr., Palos Heights, Ill., Shepard HS) scored a pair of goals as the Statesmen soccer team won its second-straight league game with a 4-1 decision over Clarke in Midwest Collegiate Conference action Saturday.

The Statesmen (5-6-1, 2-4 MCC) got on the board first when Nick Gorrie (Fr., Kilmarnock, Scotland, Grange Academy) capitalized off a pass from Eyer at the 6:03 mark. The goal is Gorrie's team-leading eighth and the assist is Eyer's first.

Daniel Beseau (Fr., Florissant, Mo., Timberland HS) doubled the advantage in the 15th minute, receiving a kick from goalkeeper Tadeo Cavazos (Sr., Baytown, Texas, Lee HS) and taking it the rest of the way for his second score of 2010. It is Cavazos' first career assist.

The score remained 2-0 for the next 55-plus minutes until Eyer put home a ball passed by Mark Dryden (Fr., Arbroath, Scotland, Arbroath HS). Dryden now has two assists on the season.

Clarke (5-6-2, 2-3-1 MCC) ended its scoreless drought three minutes later, but Eyer put the home team back up three for good in the 78th minute with an unassisted goal, his fourth of the campaign.

Despite facing 14 shots, most were off-line as Cavazos collected just one save.
