Taylor Parks is tied for the team lead with two goals
Oskaloosa--Saturday night brought rain and an aggressive opponent that refused to be stopped as the William Penn women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Mount Mercy in its Midwest Collegiate Conference opener.
The Lady Statesmen (1-5-1, 0-1 MCC) played even through the first 45 minutes with their lone goal coming via
Taylor Parks (So., Oskaloosa, Oskaloosa HS), an equalizer at the 15:44 mark. It is her second of 2011.
Unfortunately, the Mustangs dominated the offensive end with another 14 shots in the second stanza (28-7 edge overall) and scored the game winner at 51:00.
Seven different William Penn players had one shot each in the setback, while
Ali Parks (So., Omaha, Neb., Central HS) recorded eight saves in her first start of the fall.
