Mount Pleasant--The William Penn women's soccer team failed to muster enough offense Tuesday to get into the Midwest Collegiate Conference win column, falling 2-1 to Iowa Wesleyan.

The Lady Statesmen (1-9-1, 0-5 MCC) lost the shooting battle 25-4, but were still knotted in a scoreless tie until the early moments of the second half.

The Tigers (7-6, 1-3 MCC) managed to break the tie just 1:23 after the break and then scored the difference maker in the 65th minute.

William Penn rallied late with a Melisa Wink (Sr., Brookfield, Ill., Lyons Township HS) goal at the 88:56 mark, but it was too little too late. It is Wink's second goal of the year, tying for the team high.

Ali Parks (So., Omaha, Neb., Central HS) played much of the game and was saddled with the loss by allowing both goals. The sophomore posted nine saves, while Laura Gentry (So., Fruitland, Idaho, Fruitland HS) managed one save off the bench.
