Forest City--The Lady Statesmen soccer team could not hold its halftime lead in falling 3-2 to Waldorf in Midwest Collegiate Conference play Saturday.

William Penn (1-12-1, 0-7 MCC) nearly pulled off the win despite being outshot 37-10, including a 25-4 count in favor of the Warriors (4-11-1, 2-4-1 MCC) after the break.

The visitors fell behind early, but Lauren Terrell (Sr., Chandler, Ariz., Chandler HS) knotted the contest at 1-1 with an unassisted goal at the 34:13 mark. It is the senior's team-leading third goal of 2011.

Fellow senior Dana Tamos (Victoria, Australia, Ringwood College) then gave her team its only lead of the afternoon, scoring with 4:28 remaining until halftime. The goal, her first of the year, was also unassisted.

Unfortunately, the navy and gold gave up a pair of scores after halftime, including the game-winner in the 84th minute.

Laura Gentry (So., Fruitland, Idaho, Fruitland HS) kept her team in the game the best she could by stopping 12 Waldorf shots.
