Canton, Mo.--The William Penn women's soccer team struggled to warm up in chilly conditions in a 3-0 loss to non-conference opponent Culver-Stockton (Mo.) Wednesday.

With game-time temperatures dipping into the upper 40s, William Penn (1-13-1) failed to get any of its nine shots in the back of the net.

Meanwhile, the Wildcats (6-7-1) scored quickly with goals in the 11th and 13th minutes to lead 2-0 at the break. One final goal in the 74th minute iced the win for the home squad.

Marci Smith (Fr., Runnells, Southeast Polk HS) headlined the offensive effort with four shots (three on goal), while Melisa Wink (Sr., Brookfield, Ill., Lyons Township HS) tallied two shots. Culver-Stockton outshot the navy and gold 23-9.

Ali Parks (So., Omaha, Neb., Central HS) allowed two goals with four saves in the first half and Laura Gentry (So., Fruitland, Idaho, Fruitland HS) saved seven attempts against one allowed goal in the second stanza.
