Kirstin Newberry finished 18th with a 188.3 average
Indianapolis, Ind.--Guided by a pair of top-20 finishes, the Lady Statesmen rollers ended their regular season with another great finish at the Backhaul Direct Hoosier Classic presented by Columbia 300 last weekend.
William Penn placed seventh out of 50 competing teams with a final tally of 8,281 pins in nine games. Wichita State (Kan.) was the top qualifier with 8,722 pins.
Throughout its ten tournaments this season, William Penn never placed outside the top ten.
The navy and gold advanced to the eight-team bracket tournament, but was unforrtunately eliminated in the opening round by #2 seed McKendree (Ill.) 3-0. #6 seed Newman (Kan.) eventually won the title 3-1 over Wichita State.
Jazreel Tan of Wichita State led all individuals with a 207.3 average (1,866 pins).
Breanne Underwood (Sr., Treynor, Treynor HS) guided the Lady Statesmen in tenth place with a 194.3 average (1,749 pins).
Kirstin Newberry (Jr., Holland, Mich., West Ottawa HS) was next in 18th with a 188.3 mark.
Samantha Powell (Jr., Herriman, Utah, Bingham HS), with a 177.7 mark, also started all nine games.
Jessica Ganem (Jr., Austin, Texas, Leander HS) posted a 155.1 mark in seven games, while Kelsey Johnson (Fr., Montgomery, Ill., Oswego East HS) had a 196.7 average in three games.
Abigayle Wempen (Jr., Titonka, North Iowa HS) knocked down an average of 188.3 pins in three rounds and Jessica Fuja (Fr., Roselle, Ill., Lake Park HS) had a 173.7 clip in three games.
Amanda Edenholm (Jr., Marysville, Wash., Marysville-Pilchuck HS) rounded out the navy and gold scoring with a 155.5 average over two games.
