William Penn is joining a growing list of schools in the NAIA that are testing for both performance-enhancing and other drugs

Oskaloosa--Beginning this fall, William Penn University will begin implementation of a drug-testing policy.

All student-athletes who wish to compete in intercollegiate athletics at William Penn will be required to participate in the program.  The tests are completely random and will occur a few times during the academic year.

There are several purposes of the program, including, but not limited to:

--Ensuring the health and well-being of William Penn student-athletes through education, counseling and support groups, and through assistance to those with substance abuse-related problems.
--Ensuring safe, fair and equitable competition for student-athletes competing in intercollegiate athletics.
--Maintaining appropriate standards of behavior.
--Detering substance abuse.
--Protecting the integrity of student-athletes and William Penn University.
