Oskaloosa--The William Penn women's soccer program will be battling its past this fall, beginning with a less-than-ideal placing in Monday's Midwest Collegiate Conference's preseason rating.

The navy and gold were 2-13-1 (1-7 MCC) last year, and despite hiring a new coach, the team was still sixth place out of seven teams in the rating.

Defending co-regular season and tournament champion St. Ambrose is atop the list, while Grand View is second. Clarke sits in third with Mount Mercy in fourth and Viterbo in fifth. Newcomer AIB rounds out the rating in seventh.

William Penn begins the Willie McGowan Era on Friday, August 24 by hosting Doane at 4 p.m.
